Kathryn was born in Phoenix Arizona in 1959 and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. She received her Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa and began painting professionally in 1982, winning numerous plein aire painting awards. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections all over the world. In 2004 she moved to Costa Rica. The effect on her work was profound.
